“It was a fantastic weekend and we saw a lot of new faces visiting the pub, we even turned over £1,500 in one night! I would really recommend it to any struggling pubs as it is one of the best things to do as it appeals to all age groups and brings the local community together.” Maggie Traynor, New Inn, Barnsley

Our Partner at the New Inn, Barnsley, raised £1,000 for the “Help for Heroes” charity collection after hosting a 1940’s war themed weekend.

In a bid to raise money for the charity, Partner Maggie Traynor decorated the whole pub in war time inspired decorations, such as sandbags, bunting and flags, and filled the car park with old war vehicles. In addition, customers donated gifts which were auctioned off and money collection buckets were sent around the pub.

To add to the atmosphere, customers and bar staff wore fancy dress, such as army girl outfits, whilst dancing and singing to 1940’s style swing music, such as Glenn Miller.

Partner, Maggie Traynor, commented: “It was a fantastic weekend and we saw a lot of new faces visiting the pub, we even turned over £1,500 in one night! “We are now really looking forward to the St Tinian’s party night on the 26th June with fancy dress and a BBQ. We hope this event will be an even bigger success and will raise even more money for charity.”
